Dr. Imig approaches every person individually, thoughtfully, and comprehensively. Quality time helps him to best understand the individual and family dynamics at play. The thorough understanding of one’s thoughts, emotions, and sensations helps Dr. Imig develop an individualized treatment plan collaboratively with the patient. Together, we decide the next steps of further evaluation and treatment.
My approach to psychotherapy is based on a strong connection with people. I develop a non-judgmental and caring relationship with each patient I serve. My therapy approach helps each person develop, understand their experiences, thoughts, and behaviors and how these factors impact their lives.
After thorough evaluation including, but not limited to, medical history, family history, psychiatric history, and social history, medication might be recommended. I discuss individual and family views on medicine before prescribing medicine. If medicine is recommended, I will provide you education about the medicine and what you can expect when you are taking it. I view medication as one of the possible tools in a treatment plan, but not the entire treatment itself.
My expertise is in providing comprehensive care to those with ADHD, mood disorders (like depression and persistent depressive disorder), and anxiety disorders (including, but not limited to, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and social anxiety disorder). In addition, I am skilled in caring for those with autism spectrum disorders, self-injury behaviors, suicide attempts, eating disorders, substance use disorders, and those who have been through trauma.
